Job summary

VE3 is a technology and business consultancy based in Maidenhead, United Kingdom. We are seeking a Backup, DR & Migration Consultant for a contract/freelance engagement to assess and design a resilient, vendor-neutral backup, catalogues and disaster recovery capability.

Qualifications

Extensive backup, recovery and DR design experience at scale.
Hands-on with Dell NetWorker and Data Domain / PowerProtect, plus modern alternatives (Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, Commvault).
Immutable and air-gapped backup and ransomware-resilient design.
DR architecture – replication, failover, and RTO/RPO definition and testing.
Large-scale multi-PB data migration planning and execution.
Data-centre transition with space, power and cooling considerations.
Strong risk management, planning, and documentation; workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
Migration tooling at scale (e.g. Datadobi, Komprise, Cirata/WANdisco).
Vendor-neutral procurement specifications.

Responsibilities

Assess current backup/recovery and DR configurations and capacity.
Design a vendor-neutral target backup/DR capability with immutable copies.
Define RTO/RPO targets per workload and plan DR replication and tests.
Develop migration/transition strategy with phased, wave-based approach.
Contribute requirements and risks to registers; facilitate workshops with stakeholders.
Contribute to design-phase estimates and roadmaps for the Discovery gate.
