Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Vending Machine Operative to join our Derby site team at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK. You will help keep an extensive vending operation running smoothly, ensuring machines are well-stocked, clean and fully functional throughout the day.

In this hands-on role you will work as part of a small team, drive a company vehicle across the site, and often work lone shifts.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills and a professional, approachable manner.
• Full UK manual driving licence (essential).
• Must be aged 25 or over due to insurance requirements for site vehicle use.
• Experience in vending, retail or similar role is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Refill and maintain vending machines across the site throughout the day.

• Support sales by ensuring product availability and stock rotation.

Sodexo is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Vending Machine Operative to join our team at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK in Derby.

You’ll play an important role in keeping our extensive on-site vending operation running smoothly, helping to ensure colleagues have access to a clean, well-stocked and professional service throughout the day.

Working as part of a team of three Vending Operatives and a Vending Manager, you’ll help look after a minimum of 110 vending machines across 11 buildings, including sandwich, drinks and ambient snack machines.

This is a hands‑on role where attention to detail, good organisation and a strong customer service approach are essential. Working as part of a team of four, supported by an on‑site manager, this is a hands‑on role that involves regular movement across site, including walking long distances and using stairs. The role will involve lone working for the majority of the shift, so confidence in managing your own workload and working independently is essential.

What you’ll do

• Refill and maintain 30 vending machines across the site throughout the day
• Monitor stock levels and ensure machines are consistently well‑presented and fully operational
• Support sales performance by ensuring product availability and appropriate stock rotation
• Drive a company vehicle to transport products safely across the site
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in and around vending areas
• Respond to any issues with machines promptly, escalating where necessary
• Provide a professional and friendly service when interacting with site staff
• Work independently while maintaining communication with the wider team

What you’ll bring

• A full UK manual driving licence (essential)
• Must be aged 25 or over (due to insurance requirements for site vehicle use)
• Previous experience in a vending, retail, or similar role is desirable but not essential
• Strong customer service skills and a professional, approachable manner
• Ability to work independently for extended periods (lone working)
• A proactive and organised approach to managing workload
• Willingness to work across a large site, involving regular walking and use of stairs
