Job description

Role: Vehicle Test Technician (Navigation & Connected Car)
Location: Cranfield
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £18.64/hour PAYE

Our client is a prominent figure in the automotive industry, dedicated to shaping the future of mobility through innovation and advanced engineering. With a legacy of quality and excellence, they design and produce a diverse range of vehicles that cater to various markets, including passenger cars, electric vehicles, and commercial transport.

Scope of Work

  1. Automotive electrical and electronic testing relating to HMI (Human Machine Interface), Navigation / Infotainment systems / Telematics, and mobile phone applications.
  2. Working to a project schedule to complete test activities in a timely manner.
  3. Execute test cases aligned to defined scenarios both statically and dynamically.
  4. Analyse test results and report on the quality of the software, including identifying and reporting defects, tracking their status, and communicating with stakeholders about software quality.
  5. Basic vehicle disassembly to access key components within the vehicle.
  6. Use of vehicle diagnostic tools.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. A working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for report writing and presentation preparation.
  2. Excellent organisational skills.
  3. Strong attention to detail.
  4. Ability to manage and prioritise work effectively.
  5. Strong communication skills.
  6. Interest in the latest smartphones and applications.
  7. Understanding of vehicle diagnostic tools.
  8. Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
  9. C&G / BTEC L3 preferable, ideally in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering with a recognised apprenticeship or qualification within a relevant field.
