Qualifications

Job description

Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & Maintenance Engineer who can carry out maintenance and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment is required to join our Workshop Department at Huntingdonshire District Council.

SALARY: £29,119 - £32,532 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & Maintenance Engineer (known within the council as a Technician) who can carry out maintenance and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment.

Working as the Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & Maintenance Engineer you will join our team where no two days are the same from inspecting vehicles to repairing plant equipment to welding to metal fabrication to repairing electrical and hydraulic systems. This is a job where you can develop new skills and fine tune existing ones.

As the Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & Maintenance Engineer you will have previous experience repairing vehicles, troubleshooting and fixing equipment including electrical faults and have the ability to work within minimum supervision.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Vehicle Technician / Mechanic & Maintenance Engineer include:

  • Inspect Vehicles and to complete all relevant paperwork / documentation
  • Repair vehicles and plant/road testing
  • Use computerised diagnostics machines and fleet management computer systems
  • Weld with both gas and electric appliances
  • Operate drilling machines and associated equipment
  • Grind and shape metal / undertake metal fabrication
  • Maintain and repair electrical and hydraulic systems

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience covering a wide range of skills from vehicle repairs, welding, using diagnostic equipment, metal fabrication and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems
  • PC literate
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision as well as part of a team
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety at work
  • Current valid UK driving licence (CAT C)
