Job summary

Lookers Colchester is offering a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic Apprentice position as part of the Jumpstart Apprenticeship Programme. You will start hands-on training from day one within a leading automotive retailer network and gain industry experience across a wide range of brands.

You will complete a three-year training programme with dedicated mentoring, while you learn to service and repair vehicles and develop core workshop skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Entry requirements include GCSEs English, Maths and Science (A-C).
• Scotland applicants: SN5 grades A-C or above in English, Maths and Science/Tech subject.
• Predicted grades accepted with offers based on predictions.

Responsibilities

• Testing parts and systems to ensure correct operation.
• Repair and maintenance of vehicle parts (clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes, suspension).
• Maintain electronic systems including in-car entertainment.
• Carrying out bumper-to-bumper service, inspection and paperwork.

Our technicians play a vital role within our Aftersales team by delivering first class customer service every time. We want you to be part of our success.

Responsibilities:

• Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working.
• Undertaking repair and maintenance of vehicle parts including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes, and suspension.
• Maintenance of electronic systems including on board entertainment systems
• Carrying out bumper to bumper overview, service, and inspection.
• Complete all relevant paperwork to a high standard.

Entry Requirements

GCSE grades 9 – 4 (A – C) or equivalent in English, Maths and Science (Inspiro only)

In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve Scottish National 5 Grades A - C or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject.

We accept predicted grades and conditional offers can be made based on predicted grades.

Training provided:

• Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centres. In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained while on programme with us.
