Then we want to hear from you. We are looking for a permanent, time served, HGV Vehicle Technician to join our team.



South Tyneside Council operates a fleet of over 350 vehicles providing support to a range of services including waste collection, housing repairs and highway maintenance. The fleet consists of a variety of vehicles including refuse collection vehicles, crane tippers, flat-bed trucks, vans and minibuses.



You will work to achieve the efficient and effective maintenance of the Council's Fleet of Vehicles and plant equipment, by preparing all vehicles to M.O.T. and LGV testing station standards.



You will be fully conversant with the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of LGV and light vehicles to a high standard. You must hold a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in subjects relevant to vehicle and plant maintenance and have an understanding of DVSA standards and maintenance requirements with respect to operator licensing.



The workshop currently operates Monday-Friday on a 4-day working week, with a rolling day off.
