Job summary

Royal Mail in Crick (Midlands Super Hub) is recruiting Level 3 Vehicle Technicians for our brand-new workshop. You’ll perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair on a range of light and heavy vehicles, using your own toolkit and access to specialist workshop tools.

The role offers a £59,310 per annum salary, with shifts, overtime, weekend allowances, and a competitive pension. You should be fully qualified (Level 3) in Light or Heavy vehicles, hold a UK driving licence, and be

• Qualified mechanic to an advanced Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on vehicles, trailers and equipment.

We are now recruiting Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technicians for our brand-new Midlands Super Hub Workshop (Dirft Drive, Crick, Northampton, NN6 7GZ), who’ll earn£59,310 per annum.

What’s in it for you?

• £15,450 Defined Workshop allowance
• £2,657 Weekend allowance (based on 1 in 3 weekends)
• Overtime, which is regularly available, will be paid at £26.98 per hour (£28.91 Bank Holiday).
• Week 1: Early Monday
• Friday 06:00 – 14:30
• Week 2: x3 Days Monday
• Friday 09:30 – 18:00
• with 2 days off, plus Saturday & Sunday 06:00 -14:30
• Week 3: Late Monday
• Friday, 13:30 – 22:00
• You’ll be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays & Sundays (with two days off in that week) rewarded with a weekend supplement of Saturday (£52.10 per attendance) and Sunday (£104.20 per attendance).
• Late shift attendance will be £87.58 per week (1 in 3 weeks).

Initially the working location will be Crick/Coventry workshop (any additional travel expenses incurred will be fully reimbursed) moving into the Midlands Super Hub by late 2026.

Training

• Annual training and development plan provided, with progression opportunities into management roles.
• Trailer, DDT and HGV training program. Royal Mail maintains a range of vans/trucks and trailers and we welcome applications from those willing to develop their skills. If your working background is mainly in the light vehicle sector we will provide inhouse and external training to help develop your career in the HGV industry, including MOT inspection standards, LOLER regulations training and vehicle diagnostics training.

The Role

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent).
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an LGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively. Training may be provided for the right candidate.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
