Full Time and Permanent – Monday – Friday 9.00am -5.30 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays (1/2 day)

Our client is one of the largest and fastest-growing motor retailers. They represent major global franchises from various locations in Northern Ireland.

They are now actively looking to recruit a Motor Vehicle Technician / Mechanic in Newry.

Job Description:
  • Keep the working area clean and ensure Company vehicles, equipment, and special tools are used in the correct manner.
  • Carry out the instructions of the Service Manager regarding parts removed from cars and adherence to workshop H&S Regulations.
  • Supervise and train Trainee Technicians to a high standard.
  • Undertake road tests, following approved test routes.
  • Report to Service Manager recommended additional work for customer approval.
  • Work in accordance with quality system and Dealership warranty procedures.
  • Ensure the health check form is completed.
  • Carry out work for Sales Department: PDI inspection on new cars, safety checks, and pre-delivery servicing/repairs on used cars.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Group guidelines, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance by yourself, other employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Promote all services of the Group to customers when the opportunity arises.
  • Promote a positive attitude to create a cohesive team that will take the business forward.
  • Establish standards of housekeeping for the entire site and ensure waste material is controlled and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
  • Cooperate fully with the implementation of the company’s Health & Safety arrangements, including reporting accidents/incidents and equipment defects, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Actively seek to reduce negative environmental impact, e.g., waste reduction, recycling.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified – Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance; Level 2 qualified candidates willing to train up to Level 3 will also be considered.
  • Ability to manage processes, administration, and paperwork.
  • Previous Automotive Technician experience, ideally with MOT Testing qualification and main dealership experience.
  • Ability to support, coach, counsel, and develop colleagues and junior team members, delivering high standards of technical advice, service, and maintenance to customers.
