Vehicle Suspension and Steering Mechanic

Salary: £54,600 per annum (hourly paid)

Hours: 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 1 in 2 Saturday mornings depending on business needs.

We are looking for a Vehicle Suspension and Steering Mechanic to join our Accident Repair Centre in Trafford Park. You will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the suspension and steering systems of various vehicles, ensuring high-quality results that meet our insurers' standards. You will work efficiently in a modern, fast-paced, clean environment, collaborating as a team and meeting tight deadlines.

This role includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Diagnosing suspension and steering system issues using diagnostic equipment and test drives.
  2. Repairing or replacing damaged suspension components such as shock absorbers, struts, and control arms.
  3. Aligning wheels to manufacturers' specifications.
  4. Inspecting and servicing steering systems, including power steering pumps, racks, and linkages.
  5. Performing regular maintenance, lubrication, and adjustments.
  6. Test driving vehicles post-repair to ensure issues are resolved.
  7. Regularly checking tools for safety and functionality.
  8. Adhering to all safety protocols, including PPE use.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an MET technician in an automotive repair environment.
  • Deep knowledge of vehicle repair, including suspension and steering systems.
  • Strong understanding of ADAS systems.
  • Knowledge of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous handling of mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently within set timeframes to high standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage high workloads.
