About the role

The job nature of the Service Assistant is of a semi-skilled capacity, carrying out vehicle servicing and general duties in accordance with Central Engineering Standard Operating Procedures.

Main responsibilities include routine vehicle servicing, supporting vehicle examiners, skilled staff, and semi-skilled staff in vehicle repairs. You will also perform general duties such as vehicle changeovers, cleaning, attending to vehicles on the chassis wash program, and van driving. It is important to maintain and develop technical skills relevant to this role; we will assist in this area.

About you
  • Minimum Level 1 or Level 2 NVQ in a mechanical field (essential)
  • Experience in car mechanics, van, bus, coach, HGV, or PSV operations (essential)
  • Valid UK driver's license (essential)
  • Experience with workshop equipment such as hydraulic lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure washers, headlamp testers, hydraulic jacks, drilling machines, torque wrenches, grinders, and portable tools
  • Possession or ability to obtain a full PCV license and forklift truck license if required

Hourly pay: £13.62

Working hours: 38.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:00
