Job summary

Rocket Staffing Group Ltd in Corby is seeking a Vehicle prepper to prepare vehicles for paint, including masking, sanding down and priming panels. You will ensure prepared panels are defect-free and meet high-quality standards across a range of vehicles.

The role requires a full UK driving licence (manual and automatic) and prior bodyshop prepper experience, with a 2:00pm–10:00pm shift and overtime paid after 12 weeks. You will work independently and support junior techs when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Bodyshop Technician or Prepper.
• Full valid UK driving licence with manual and automatic transmission.
• Over 21 years old with at least 2 years driving licence history.
• Ability to support junior technicians and provide guidance when needed.
• Passionate about the motor industry and delivering high-standard work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for paint, including masking, sanding, and priming panels.
• Check prepared panels for defects and ensure high-quality finish.
• Work on a range of vehicles from family cars to light commercial.
• Adhere to standards and processes to produce a cost-effective product.
• Support bodyshop team as required and maintain professional relationships.
• Verify work and ensure parts requisitions are accurate and timely.
• Complete tasks within allocated time and meet targets.

Responsibilities

• Preparing vehicles for paint - this will include masking, sanding down and priming panels
• Ensuring that there are no defects on the prepared panels
• Working on range of vehicles from small family cars to light commercial vehicles
• To work within standards and processes laid down by paint and dry goods companies to ensure that a high-quality cost-effective product is produced.
• Supporting bodyshop team within other departments if required
• To check all work prior to starting to ensure that it has been repaired to the required standard.
• To ensure that all parts requisitions are completed accurately.
• To ensure all work is completed within the time allotted.
• To work efficiently to ensure, targets are met.
• To develop and maintain professional and positive working relationships with colleagues.

Experience Required

• Previous experience in a similar role as a Bodyshop Technician / Prepper
• Full valid UK driving licence with the ability to drive automatic and manual cars (essential)
• For the insurance purpose you need to be over 21 years old and hold a driving licence for minimum 2 years (essential)
• Willing to support junior techs and offer support/expertise when needed.
• You will be passionate to work within the motor industry and take pride in their work, to the highest standards of work set by customers
• You will need to work independently on vehicles and have experience to make decisions when required
• Excellent attention to detail
