The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Vehicle Preparation Operative (VPO) to join their Fleet and Equipment team in Bristol. This vital role ensures that vehicles and equipment are prepared to the highest standards, supporting patient safety and operational efficiency. There has never been a better time to join the Trust’s Fleet and Equipment team as a Vehicle Preparation Operative (VPO). Our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) team plays a vital role in ensuring our frontline crews are ready and able to respond to emergency situations by preparing our vehicle fleet and equipment to high standards.
The role of the VPO is also a gateway to the organisation, with opportunities to develop your career within the Fleet and Equipment team or the wider Trust in both patient-facing and support roles.
The working pattern includes shifts towards lates and nights, with 24/7 cover required. Unsocial hours payments will be applicable in addition to the basic salary for night and weekend work.
This role is a key operational support function, ensuring patient safety and supporting Operations in meeting its targets.
Main duties include:
Act as a point of contact within the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation team for initial enquiries from staff of other departments, acting professionally at all times.
Be proactive in identifying and providing solutions to issues encountered within the role and assist the department in continuously monitoring and improving its service standards.
Mentor and support less experienced Vehicle Preparation Operatives.
