Job summary

Fortescue Zero invites students to join a 12-month industrial placement in the Vehicle Performance group. You will work with engineering professionals and graduates, learning through hands-on data analysis and software development to improve car performance and reliability.

The role focuses on data analysis, race strategy support, and developing tools to automate analyses, with opportunities for graduate roles upon completion of your degree.

Qualifications

• Working towards a STEM degree including Mathematics, Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics or Motorsport Engineering.
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and control systems is advantageous.
• Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, C#, C, C++ and OOP is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Analyze car, rig, simulator and model data to unlock performance potential in current and future cars.
• Analyze race data with strategists to maximise decision making and race strategies.
• Be part of the Ops Room (mission control) supporting the race team at the track.
• Develop software tools and models to automate processes and analysis.
• Contribute to pre-event and post-event analyses of car, tyre, systems and strategy performance.
