Job description

Vehicle Mechanic needed in Nuneaton, £16.26ph PAYE - Reference: 5272257

  • Ensure servicing, maintenance, and repairs of all types of HGV and LCV Motor Vehicles, Mechanical Handling Equipment, Plant, and Ad Hoc equipment are carried out safely, efficiently, and economically, applying the necessary skills and expertise.
  • Work to be performed to the highest standards of workmanship, with minimal supervision, maintaining a high standard of work throughout.

Job Summary:

  • Examine, inspect, and thoroughly report on the condition, roadworthiness, or safety of vehicles or equipment, including functional testing and diagnostic techniques.
  • Service, maintain, or repair vehicles, equipment/plant, or components using the appropriate tools and facilities safely and efficiently within the standard job times set by management and manufacturers.
  • Interpret and implement technical service data and statutory maintenance standards to ensure work exceeds minimum requirements.
  • Recover broken down or immobilized plant/vehicles and equipment using proper techniques to minimize additional damage and ensure safety.
  • Manufacture simple component parts with hand tools or machinery to high standards of accuracy and performance.
  • Apply diagnostic techniques logically to identify causes of malfunctions, including recommendations for improvements or modifications for safety or reliability.
  • Supervise and instruct semi-skilled staff, apprentices, and juniors within the workshop, including attending necessary training courses (e.g., M.O.T. Tester Course), which may require overnight stays.

This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
