Job summary

FedEx is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician at our Leicester Vehicle Maintenance Unit to service and repair our fleet to keep them safe and compliant.

You will work rotating shifts, 40 hours per week, with base pay of £21.70 per hour plus night-time premia (£2.23 or £2.70 per hour) for eligible hours, and flexible hours may be considered.

Qualifications

• LGV C&E licence (class one) required.
• Experience with service and repair of heavy vehicles.
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy components.
• Experience with welding and DC electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform service and repair of company fleet to maintain safety and compliance.
• Complete service and inspection records.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing to improve first-time pass.
• Produce defect reports and paperwork as required by law.
• Carry out ad-hoc repairs and rectification of defects.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Vehicle Maintenance Technician at our Leicester Vehicle Maintenance Unit.

Working hours: 40 per week

Working pattern: Rotating shifts

Week 1: 06:00-14:30 Mon-Fri

Week 2: 12:30-21:00 Mon-Fri

However, flexible hours can be considered for right candidate.

Salary: Base pay £21.70 per hour. Premia paid for hours worked between 7pm - 10pm (£2.23 per hour), and 10pm - 6am (£2.70 per hour).

What You Will Be Doing

• Performing service and repair of company fleet in line with planned maintenance schedules to ensure our vehicles and trailers are safe, legal and fit for duties
• Completing signed service and inspection records
• Completing defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements
• Preparing vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure first time pass
• Performing ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects

What Do You Bring With You

• Your skill and applicable licenses our vocational training, e.g., LGV C&E license (class one)
• Knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing / troubleshooting equipment
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre Heavy Vehicle Components
• Experience with welding and basic D.C. electrical troubleshooting skills
• Valid driving license
