Job summary

FedEx is seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join the Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Atherstone. You will service and maintain the company fleet, ensuring safety, legality and reliability in line with planned maintenance schedules.

The role requires full vocational training, car/cv maintenance expertise, ability to lift heavy components, and experience with welding and electrical troubleshooting. A driving licence is essential and full training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Fully skilled with Licences / Vocational Training (e.g., LGV C&E licence).
  • City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs.
  • Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components.
  • Experience with welding and basic electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Complete signed service and inspection records.
  • Complete defect reports and paperwork to meet legal requirements.
  • Prepare vehicles for annual MOT testing (aim for first-time pass).
  • Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs and rectify defects.
  • Ensure safe use of tools, plant and equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and perform other duties as required.

Job description

Hours:

40 per week.

Shift:

Rotating Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 22:30 (40 hours), 22:00– 06:30 (40 hours)

Salary

Base pay (Days) £21.70 per hour (p/h)

Twilight shift premia, 7pm-10pm £2.33 (p/h)

Night shift premia 10pm-6am, £2.82

We have a rare opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join the Engineering Team as a fully skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician based at our Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Atherstone.

As a Vehicle Technician, you will maintain FedEx Assets' safety and reliability by performing service and maintenance of the company fleet of vehicles and trailers in line with planned maintenance schedules. Ensuring that the fleet is safe, legal and fit for duties.

Responsibilities Include
  • Completion of signed service and inspection records
  • Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
  • Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing (to a standard to ensure 1st time pass)
  • Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects.
  • Ensuring the correct and effective safe use of all tools, plant and ancillary equipment
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards carrying out any other duty deemed reasonable by Management
The Successful Applicant Should Have
  • Fully skilled with applicable Licenses / Vocational Training (e.g., LGV C&E licence (class one)).

  • Knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing / troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to lift and manoeuvre Heavy Vehicle Components.
  • Experience with welding and basic D.C. electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Must possess valid driving license.
  • Previous experience within a similar role
