Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Operative for its Bovington, Dorset site. You will maintain, operate and drive Armoured Fighting Vehicles and other specialist platforms to support a critical national-security contract in a dynamic, high-impact environment.

The role is full-time, on-site at Bovington, with duties including Level 1 maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, refuelling, and routine checks of stores and equipment.

• Manual handling and physical working.

Responsibilities

• Perform Level 1 maintenance and repairs to vehicle-specific standards, following authorised procedures where training is provided.
• Conduct preparatory tasks including minor repairs, cleaning, painting, and refuelling.
• Support usage tracking and routine checks of stores and equipment.
• Manage collection and delivery of vehicle platforms as required.
• Safely operate vehicles on public roads and off-road, day and night.

The role

As a Vehicle Maintenance Operative, you'll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be maintaining, operating, and driving Armoured Fighting Vehicles and other specialist platforms, delivering critical support to the Contract in a dynamic and high-impact environment.

Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:

• Perform Level 1 maintenance and repairs to vehicle-specific standards, following authorised procedures where training is provided
• Conduct preparatory tasks including minor repairs, cleaning, painting, and refuelling
• Support usage tracking and routine checks of stores and equipment.
• Manage collection and delivery of vehicle platforms as required
• Safely operate vehicles on public roads and off-road, day and night

This role is full time working 39 hours per week and is based on site at Bovington, Dorset.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Maintenance Operative:

• Strong communicator, confident in representing the department during meetings and site visits
• Manual handling and physical working
• Must be 21 or older due to licensing requirements.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Maintenance Operative:

• Full manual UK Driving Licence.
