The role
As a Vehicle Maintainer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV, which include cars, minibuses and coaches), to both rigid and articulated Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). You'll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time!

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  1. General vehicle maintenance and servicing duties.
  2. Undertake driving tasks, appropriate to licences held, in support of the MoD’s AACen Task and commensurate with Babcock’s Hades Contract.
  3. This may require on call duties.

Aircraft Refuel /Oshkosh and Aircraft towing tractors - at the Army Aviation Centre at Middle Wallop including Land Rovers, MAN SV.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Middle Wallop, near Stockbridge. You'll work an average of 37.5 hours a week on a shift basis; however, you'll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Maintainer:

  1. Experience with aircraft refuelling/Oshkosh and other military vehicles with knowledge and understanding of MoD working environment, practices and procedures including JAMES system.
  2. Equivalent (City & Guilds).
  3. Engineering experience (REME Class 2 NVQ Level 3 or Civilian).

Qualifications for the Vehicle Maintainer:

  1. CAT B licence.
  2. Cat C+E Licence.
