Job Opportunity: Vehicle Inspector at First Bus

First Bus, one of the country's largest bus operators, is seeking a Vehicle Inspector to join our engineering team. We are committed to advancing bus technology and supporting your professional development within a dynamic environment.

Position Type: Permanent Full Time

Main Responsibilities
  1. Lead and motivate the Vehicle Examination Team.
  2. Conduct Maintenance and Safety Audits.
  3. Ensure compliance with all HS & E legislation and Group policies.
  4. Adhere to all relevant Engineering SOPs.
  5. Provide guidance to staff as needed.
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent certification with relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of DVSA standards for defect categorisation and annual testing.
  • Familiarity with workshop equipment such as hydraulic lifts, pressurised systems, battery chargers, jacks, scaffolding, pressure washers, headlamp testers, and hand tools.
  • Willingness to undertake training, including NC in Supervisory Management and Engineering or IRTE membership.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and a PSV/PCV licence (assistance available if not).
  • Flexible regarding working hours and roles.
Working Hours

Monday to Friday, shifts from 06:00 - 14:00 or 12:00 - 20:00.
