Job summary

McElmeel Mobility Services in Armagh is recruiting fitters to join the Production Team. You will convert standard vehicles into wheelchair-accessible vehicles, following the build manual.

Responsibilities include cutting and modifying floors, fitting ramps and restraint systems, installing accessories, and solving build issues. You will work autonomously and within a team to maintain safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Full driving licence is essential.
• Able to find solutions in challenging situations.
• Excellent time keeping and reliability.
• Clear communication with team members.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Understand the build process for wheelchair-accessible conversions.
• Cut out/modify the floor of the vehicle to prepare for conversion.
• Fit conversion components and ramps.
• Fit wheelchair and passenger restraint systems.
• Install additional accessories on request (e.g., winch, side steps).
• Build conversions following the build manual.
• Solve problems that occur during the build process.
• Identify solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

We are recruiting fitters to join our Production Team. Successful candidates will be responsible for the conversion of standard vehicles into wheelchair-accessible vehicles. McElmeel Mobility Services have an industry-leading amount of European Type Approved conversions and you will be expected to work on a range of vehicles converting them to the highest standards. Responsibilities Understand the build process expected for the conversion of vehicles for wheelchair access, Cut out/modify the floor of the vehicle to prepare for conversion, Fit conversion and ramp, Ability to use hand tools such as saws, grinders, and drills effectively, Fit Wheelchair and Passenger Restraint systems, Fit and wire other accessories on request i.e. winch, side steps, Build conversions following the build manual for the set vehicle, Solve problems that occur during the build process, Identification of solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
