Job summary

FMG Repair Services in Mitcham is seeking an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor stepping up into a leadership-focused role. You will combine hands-on estimating with team support and operational oversight to ensure high standards and exceptional customer service.

You’ll lead accurate damage assessments, produce detailed repair estimates, and coordinate with insurers and engineers to deliver quality outcomes. A strong focus on teamwork and continuous improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include leadership experience in a vehicle damage role.
• Strong ability to inspect and accurately assess vehicle damage.
• Proven track record in producing detailed repair estimates.
• Familiarity with Thatcham and BSI repair standards.
• Experience liaising with insurance companies for repair authority.
• Excellent communication with customers, engineers and technicians.

Salary: Up to £55k - based on skill set and experience (uncapped bonus structure)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor ready to step up into a leadership-focused role, combining hands-on estimating with team support and operational oversight. As a VDA, you'll play a key role in driving performance, maintaining high standards, while continuing to deliver expert assessments and exceptional customer service.

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspecting damaged vehicles and accurately assessing the full extent of damage.
• Producing detailed electronic and manual repair estimates.
• Identifying correct prescribed repair methods in line with Thatcham and BSI standards.
• Liaising effectively with insurance companies to gain repair authority.
• Communicating repair methodologies clearly to customers, engineers and technicians.
• You'll be assessing a wide range of vehicles, so staying up to date with repair methodologies, manufacturer bulletins, and insurer requirements is key.
• Teamwork is central to this role - working collaboratively across departments to ensure every vehicle is returned safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
