Job Description:

The Community Safety & Security Department of the Property Division is responsible for monitoring our campuses 24/7, ensuring the safety of students, staff, visitors, and VIPs, as well as the security of the estate. Their activities foster a welcoming environment that supports our academic community in engineering, medicine, natural sciences, business management, research, and teaching.

The Vehicle Access and Fleet Assistant supports administrative tasks related to Imperial’s car parking facilities and fleet of security patrol cars and shuttle buses. You will assist the Community Safety and Security Office by providing reception services and addressing queries from staff, students, and visitors.

Your responsibilities include operating Imperial’s automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and car park booking systems, ensuring bookings, allocations, and permits are accurate, and promptly handling queries. You will monitor shuttle bus routes between campuses and support drivers to maintain a timely and efficient service.

You will also manage Imperial’s fleet of security vehicles, ensuring proper maintenance, insurance, and driver compliance with policies and legal requirements.

Additional duties include providing administrative support such as purchasing uniforms and office supplies, answering queries at security offices, and selling bike locks to students and staff.

  • Education to GCSE Level
  • Understanding of standards, regulations, procedures, and Health & Safety related to the role
  • Proven experience in an office environment
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan work independently or within a team
  • Calm and professional demeanor when dealing with difficult situations
  • Proactive and flexible approach, willing to work across all Imperial sites as needed
