Job Description:

We are one of the two Red Bull-owned Formula 1 Teams, a dedicated group of professionals driven by a relentless pursuit of performance and excellence. Every detail matters, and every aspect of our operations contributes to achieving success on and off the track.

We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Office. In this role, you will take ownership of the design and development of mechanical components, tools, and jigs related to Gearbox, Hydraulic, and Exhaust systems, from initial installation layouts to detailed part design. You will also play a pivotal role in enhancing our design workflows and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading the mechanical design process from concept to detailed design of components and tooling, integrating innovative and high-performance solutions.
  2. Ensuring all designed parts comply with the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations.
  3. Contributing to the development of lightweight, reliable, and aerodynamically efficient mechanical components.
  4. Overseeing the reliability aspects of designed parts in collaboration with relevant departments.
  5. Staying up to date with materials science, manufacturing technologies, and motorsport industry advancements.

Team and Technical Guidance

  1. Acting as the technical point of reference within the assigned group for task-related guidance.
  2. Providing mentorship and support to junior mechanical design engineers.
  3. Reviewing and approving final design releases within the group, when required.
  4. Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the design function.

Professionalism and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  1. Working closely with the Mechanical Design Team Leader and Deputy to ensure alignment with project timelines and performance targets.
  2. Collaborating with departments such as Aerodynamics, Concept, Trackside Operations, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical solutions into the overall car design.
  3. Fostering strong communication and collaboration with all internal departments.
  4. Liaising with suppliers and external partners to secure high-quality materials and components.
  5. Providing support during race and track events from the Factory Operation Room, as required.
  6. Maintaining flexibility in attendance and attitude to work, aligned with role and project needs.

Experience Requirements:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design, particularly within high-performance motorsport environments, preferably F1.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.
  • Composite knowledge and competence in moulds, patterns, and tooling design are a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong initiative and innovative mindset.
  • Flexible, proactive, and positive attitude.
