We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Office. In this role, you will own the design and development of mechanical components, tools, and jigs related to Gearbox, Hydraulic, and Exhaust systems, from initial layouts to detailed parts. You will also enhance design workflows and mentor junior team members.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading the mechanical design process from concept to detailed design of components and tooling, incorporating innovative solutions.
  2. Ensuring all parts comply with FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations.
  3. Developing lightweight, reliable, and aerodynamically efficient mechanical components.
  4. Collaborating with relevant departments to ensure reliability of designed parts.
  5. Staying updated with advancements in materials science, manufacturing technologies, and motorsport industry.

Team and Technical Guidance:

  1. Acting as the technical point of reference for task guidance within the group.
  2. Mentoring and supporting junior mechanical design engineers.
  3. Reviewing and approving final design releases.
  4. Driving continuous improvement initiatives in the design function.

Professionalism and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  1. Collaborating closely with the Mechanical Design Team Leader and other departments like Aerodynamics, Concept, and Trackside Operations.
  2. Ensuring seamless integration of mechanical solutions into overall car design.
  3. Liaising with suppliers and external partners for high-quality materials and components.
  4. Providing support during race and track events as needed.
  5. Maintaining flexibility in attendance and attitude to meet project requirements.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design within high-performance motorsport, preferably F1.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.
  • Composite design experience is a plus.
