Job Description:

• 10 years of experience in COBOL programming and VAXVMS development
• Extensive experience with VAXVMS operating system
• Familiarity with VAX COBOL compiler and related utilities
• Experience with VAXVMS file systems and database management
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with COBOL applications and VAXVMS systems
• Provide technical support to end users
• Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL programs and applications running on VAXVMS
• Write, test, and debug COBOL code according to specifications
• Develop and document code according to company standards
• Proficient in the VAXVMS operating system and its associated tools
• Experience with ICMS tool and RDB Relational Database

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with specific VAXVMS applications or industries
• Experience with other legacy technologies
• Experience with Agile development methodologies

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with client business user team for requirement discussion
• Involve in knowledge acquisition, technical design, and estimation for fixes and enhancements
• Effective involvement in both functional and technical knowledge sharing with customer SMEs and tech leads
• Coordinate work allocation and synchronization between offshore development and QA teams
• Engage with customer business users for project prioritization and design discussions
• Prioritize bug fixes and changes with the client team
• Reproduce defects reported by the client
• Collaborate effectively with other leads and team members
• Coordinate with customer help desk and server admin teams for infrastructure and change management tasks
• Perform root cause analysis and preliminary problem diagnosis with developers
• Technically lead the VAXVMS development team
• Report promptly to onsite and offshore managers and stakeholders
• Educate the team to prevent recurrence of defects and bugs
• Own the technical landscape of the application during knowledge acquisition
• Build a knowledge repository for the development and QA teams
• Define lifecycle processes, templates, and checklists
• Conduct group design and code reviews with customer and offshore teams
• Engage in cross-functional knowledge sharing and training
• Coordinate with customer teams for resolution and clarification
