The opportunity

We are partnering with a market-leading Big 4 firm who provide pragmatic commercial help so clients can improve their day-to-day reporting for indirect tax. This includes improving working capital, reducing errors, reducing costs, advising on complex transactions, and ensuring indirect taxes are handled correctly. They may also advise on how indirect taxes such as VAT impact the client’s supply chain and financial systems.

They're looking for a highly experienced Manager or Senior Manager to join our regional team to help drive the VAT practice forward. This role would ideally suit a professional with broad experience with clients across various industries.

The role can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Newcastle.

Your people responsibilities:

• Create, support, sustain, and lead effective teams
• Ensure quality of work and lead the delivery team daily
• Develop staff through supervising, coaching, and mentoring
• Manage strategy and operations of the team, including junior staff development
• Build and maintain client relationships and provide exceptional service
• Negotiate and handle challenges confidently
• Manage delivery of complex consulting projects ensuring technical excellence
• Oversee overall client service quality
• Manage leads from other practice areas
• Build internal and external networks for the team
• Effective time management and maintaining composure under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Qualifications required:

• Significant VAT experience from a professional services or in-house team
• ATT/ACA/CA or CTA qualification is an advantage but not required
• Open to current Senior Managers or ambitious Managers

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Project management skills, ability to plan and prioritize
