PRO TAX in Bristol is seeking a VAT Manager to strengthen its VAT advisory services and support growth. You will advise UK and international clients on VAT and indirect tax implications across sectors, including education and public bodies.

The role combines technical VAT expertise with client relationship management, business development, and mentoring of junior staff. Hybrid and flexible working with ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Background in VAT, ideally gained within a professional services firm or HMRC.
• Experience overseeing a varied portfolio of VAT clients across industries.
• Ability to identify opportunities for revenue growth and build client relationships.
• Involvement in business development, including winning new work.

An award-winning and expanding Top 40 accountancy practice is seeking a VAT Manager to help strengthen its VAT advisory services and support the next stage of its growth. Focusing entirely on VAT consultancy, you will advise a varied client base, including large businesses, international groups, educational bodies, charities and public sector entities.

Your role as a VAT Manager:

• Working closely with the VAT Partner, you will advise UK and international clients on VAT and indirect tax implications relating to international trade.
• Advise education and public sector clients on VAT liabilities, VAT recovery, partial exemption and business/non-business activities.
• Assess the VAT implications of residential and commercial property transactions and developments.
• Manage client relationships, expectations and service delivery.
• Scope project proposals, managing budgets and overseeing billing.
• Communicate key VAT developments through articles, webinars, social media and internal updates.
• Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to key sector groups, including Manufacturing, Education and Real Estate.
• Identify opportunities to grow fee income and expand existing client relationships.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team.

What you'll need to succeed:

• You will have a background in VAT, ideally gained within a professional services firm or HMRC.
• Demonstrable experience overseeing a varied portfolio of VAT clients across a range of industries.
• Ability to identify opportunities for revenue growth and build lasting client relationships.
• Involvement in business development, including winning new work and expanding existing client accounts.
• Experience supporting, coaching or managing junior team members.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Sound technical VAT expertise, a commercial mindset and a commitment to delivering high‑quality client service.
