Amazon is seeking a European VAT manager with experience in European VAT to support the EMEA VAT advisory team. As part of a larger team, this position will involve tax research, giving VAT technical advice to business stakeholders, working on tax and process automation projects.



Key job responsibilities
The VAT manager will:
- provide VAT advice to various Amazon business stakeholders, including gleaning and consolidating European VAT advice/requirements, responding to small VAT queries;
- scan and research new tax laws and their impact on Amazon
- work with technology teams on tax related automation projects and other process improvements.

• Assist with the delivery of planning, real time coordination, and communication of business projects with tax dependencies.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and define strategy to address them using your expertise and judgement to support decisions with financial, operational, or customer implications.
• Collaborate with tax, business and tech partner teams. This includes drafting the appropriate level of documentation to support analyses performed, decisions made and conclusions reached.
• Effectively communicate with and influence partner teams.
• Support engagements with external advisors.

- Fluent written and verbal communications skills in English
- Experience with tax technology tools and/or generative AI is helpful but not a requirement

- minimum 7 years experience in European VAT advisory, gained within a big4 consulting firm or in an in-house position
- tech savviness/keen interest in tax technology/automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Recognized professional tax qualification, chartered accountant, or relevant legal degree.
- International VAT experience in both practice and industry (including B2B/B2G invoicing, B2B supply chain, domestic and cross-border supplies of goods and services).
- e-commerce/platform economy related experience
