VAT Manager

About the Role

A global, leading engineering business is seeking to recruit for a new position as a VAT Manager to cover the UK and Ireland. This role is offered on an initial 2-year Fixed Term Contract basis and reports to the Finance Director.

This role is crucial in ensuring VAT compliance, optimising VAT processes, and providing expert advice on VAT-related matters across the UK and Ireland. You will play a key role in process improvements, system implementation, and risk management while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of VAT returns
  • Manage VAT registrations, de-registrations, and reconciliation processes
  • Provide expert VAT advice to internal stakeholders on business initiatives
  • Participate in the implementation of a new software suite
  • Identify VAT risks and implement control measures
  • Liaise with HMRC on audits, disputes, and VAT enquiries
  • Drive process automation and standardisation for VAT compliance
  • Deliver VAT training for internal teams

What We re Looking For

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of UK & EU VAT legislation
  • Proven experience in a VAT-focused role within a large organisation, consultancy, or HMRC
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex VAT issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with VAT software and Microsoft Excel
  • A proactive, self-motivated professional with a keen eye for process improvements
