Job summary

Pro-Tax is seeking a VAT Associate Director to lead indirect tax advisory work from Leeds or Manchester with hybrid working. You will support complex VAT matters for OMBs, groups, listed businesses and PE-backed firms, guiding senior teams and delivering client-focused service.

The role requires a strong UK VAT background, practice experience, and professional qualifications (CTA/ATT/ACA/ACCA or equivalent). You will play a pivotal part in growing the firm’s VAT advisory capabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong background in indirect tax in the UK.
• Experience working in a practice setting.
• VAT advisory experience.
• CTA/ATT/ACA/ACCA qualification or qualified by experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert VAT advice across a range of matters and manage technical assignments.
• Coordinate with client correspondence and keep partners updated on progress.
• Lead due diligence projects and review VAT affairs with clear reporting of findings.
• Proactively identify VAT opportunities and contribute to business development.
• Serve as main client contact on VAT queries and ensure high-quality service.
• Collaborate with other departments to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Monitor WIP and ensure timely billing of VAT work.
• Keep technical knowledge up-to-date through reading and courses.
