Job summary

ACCA Careers is seeking an experienced VAT professional in Birmingham to lead the VAT advisory practice. You will work with a dedicated VAT team to shape the offering, drive business development, and mentor junior staff.

The role focuses on UK and international VAT, cross‑border issues, and complex projects for corporates, education institutions, and public sector clients, with a clear pathway toward director-level progression and flexible/hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Extensive VAT experience gained from an accountancy practice or HMRC environment.
• CTA qualification preferred but not essential.
• Experience managing a diverse VAT client portfolio across sectors with a track record of growing fee revenues.
• Some experience advising on Customs Duty alongside VAT is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Advising UK and international clients on VAT and indirect tax implications of international trade.
• Managing client relationships and expectations; scoping proposals and budgeting.
• Contributing to business development and mentoring junior team members.
• Supporting growth of the VAT service line and collaborating with the VAT Partner.
