Qualifications

Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

Brookwood Hospital is part of the largest network of healthcare providers with specialty and primary care physicians across five hospitals in Central Alabama. It is a 645-bed comprehensive medical center with prominent programs in cardiovascular care, emergency services, neurosciences, orthopedics, oncology, mental health (one of the largest providers in the state), and Alabama's first dedicated women's hospital. Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate competency in vascular ultrasound diagnostics, including Two-Dimensional Imaging, M-Mode Imaging, Color Flow, and Spectral Doppler.
  • Perform Carotid Ultrasound, Venous Doppler of upper and lower limbs, Arterial Doppler of upper and lower limbs, Transcranial studies, Cerebrovascular Studies, Graft Imaging, Hemodialysis Access, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and Temporal Artery Ultrasound following laboratory protocols, optimizing all imaging modalities for comprehensive studies.
  • Assist vascular surgeons during intraoperative vascular cases.
  • Recognize normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology, obtaining and documenting relevant clinical and diagnostic information.
  • Accurately record verbal vascular orders from physicians in the medical record, and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Perform routine ultrasound equipment maintenance, including transducer decontamination.
  • Communicate openly and effectively, participate in hospital CQI processes, and assist with clerical duties as needed.
  • Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
  • Participate in the laboratory's Quality Review Program and adhere to accreditation standards such as those from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with hospital policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  • Assist in transporting patients.
  • Schedule patients and coordinate cardiology/vascular procedures.
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs.
  • Demonstrate competency in contrast medication administration.
Qualifications

Education/Training

Training as per ARDMS or CCI guidelines.

Licensure/Certification

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS and/or
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI; and
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

Experience as required under ARDMS or CCI guidelines.
