Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
Please note, this vacancy is only open to internal applicants who are currently employed by UHS.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiology Vascular Access Service for a Vascular Access Practitioner to join our team.
Our objective is to consistently deliver a safe and effective gold standard service to all patients who come through the doors of UHS and in contact with our service. We see both inpatients and outpatients for vascular access device placement, placing over a thousand PICCs and midlines per year.
We continue to receive great feedback from the Friends and Family Test survey and from staff, most recently from the intensive care units with the service providing interventions at the bedside using electrocardiography technology to confirm PICC tip position, reducing the need for a chest x-ray, therefore less exposure to radiation. Our ever-expanding service now means that often patients receive their PICC and midline on the day of referral.
We take pride that our team is recognised for our forward thinking and service development.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
At UHS we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.
