Job Overview

MFT’s Value for Patients Coordinator supports the development of the Trust’s “Value based Healthcare” approach that contributes to long term financial sustainability, and has emphasis on patient benefit, harm avoidance and equitability of access to treatment. The postholder will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust continues to provide safe and clinically effective services for the people of Greater Manchester.

The postholder is required to provide project management and other administrative support within the Value for Patients team, including liaison with Clinical Groups and Corporate Divisions and Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The role will require support to a range of tasks including data collection, production of management information and organisation of meetings, agendas and action logs. It will also include administration of Wave, MFT’s programme management tool.

The post holder may be expected to engage internal and external stakeholders in the planning and delivery of these programme objectives and to demonstrate collaborative working across and a ‘can-do attitude’ with a strong focus on delivery.

The post holder will also be required to collate and report on Value for Patient Programme status and provide assurance to senior management on progress, to fixed deadlines.

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of project management methodology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, to communicate with staff of all disciplines, grades and understanding
  • Able to give clear explanations and listen / understand complex information effectively
  • Excellent IT literacy (word-processing, spreadsheet, presentations, report writing)

Desirable criteria

  • Able to present complex information in an appropriate way to different audiences
  • Able to manage and deliver the programme / project in a calm and collected manner amid pressures of deadlines, work interruptions, conflicting priorities and competing opinions

Qualifications – Academic/ Professional

Essential criteria

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent level of experience)

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous practical involvement in project & programme management and supporting a programme manager within the NHS
  • Experience producing and updating project and programme plans using a Gantt chart
  • Familiarity with tracking benefits realisation
  • Experience of Working in an NHS Trust
  • Database management experience
  • Track record of meeting strict deadlines

Desirable criteria

  • Familiarity with risk management processes
  • Experience producing reports and papers for high level meetings
