Vacancy for EMKP Project Curator at The British Museum

Salary: £28,868 per annum

About the programme:

The Endangered Material Knowledge Programme (EMKP) provides grants to support the documentation and digitisation of material knowledge systems that are under threat and at risk of disappearing. Established in 2018 with funding from Arcadia, a charitable foundation dedicated to protecting nature, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting open access to knowledge, EMKP is hosted by the Department of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas at the British Museum.

About the role:
  • Assist in digital repository maintenance and content review, including asset checking and ingestion for grantees.
  • Support projects and grantees with relevant anthropological, digital, and practical advice.
  • Disseminate project results through digital media such as websites, social media, digital exhibitions, and curated blogs.
  • Support planning and organization of EMKP events, including training and meetings.
About you:
  • BA/BSc (or equivalent) in digital humanities, anthropology, archaeology, or a related field; postgraduate degree preferred.
  • Language skills in French, Portuguese, or other widely spoken languages from Africa, Oceania, the Americas, or Asia.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management and public dissemination.
  • Interest and research experience in material culture anthropology of Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania.
  • Experience working in a museum or library, event coordination, or managing digital collections.
