The Archaeology Data Service (ADS) is a world-leading digital repository which provides digital data archiving services for UK archaeology. The ADS is a recognised component of UKRI's research infrastructure and hold the Core Trust Seal. Based in the University of York, ADS works closely with external partners, both in Higher Education and in the public and commercial archaeological sectors. All archived data is available Open Access and ADS funding is equally split between data deposit charges and research and consultancy, including a number of international projects.
This is a new role which is designed to increase the applications development capacity of the ADS, to lead on improving the current applications stack and enhancement of services, and to lead the small team of developers in evolving best practices and skills training.
You will lead a team that develops web applications across all areas of ADS activity. The primary focus of your role will be to provide line management and senior technical leadership to developers who are working on new projects and supporting existing services. You will take a hands-on development role and work collaboratively to define common approaches to application development and integration, and develop the team's adoption of Agile ways of working.
This is a Full Time, Fixed Term role for 3 years.
