Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience designing AI-powered products, copilots, or conversational interfaces.
  • Knowledge of WCAG/ADA accessibility and user-centered design principles.
  • Strong collaboration across Product, Engineering, Research, and business teams.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and design-to-code workflows.
  • Portfolio showing component-level design thinking with handoff artifacts.
  • Hands-on experience building a design system in Figma with tokens and boolean properties.
  • Familiarity with Style Dictionary or Tokens Studio.
  • Understanding of design tokens translating to code (CSS vars, JSON).
  • Proficiency in Figma advanced prototyping and dev handoff.
  • Ability to review front-end implementations and flag design drift.
  • Experience in startup or fast-paced product teams.
  • Exposure to motion design or micro-interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on product experiences rapidly in an agile environment.
  • Build and maintain scalable design system components from ground up, including tokens.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into polished designs.
  • Own developer handoff with clean Figma files, specs, redlines, and docs.
  • Partner with QA during implementation reviews to catch drift.
  • Contribute to and evolve the component library with clear naming and states.
  • Leverage AI-powered design tools to accelerate ideation and prototyping.
  • Participate in design critiques to raise craft and usability.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to spacing, typography, color, and accessibility.

Job description

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Significant commercial experience in Product Design, UX, Design Systems, or related fields.
  • Proven experience building and scaling enterprise design systems.
  • Strong expertise in Figma, including components, variants, variables, tokens, and developer handoff.
  • Experience designing AI-powered products, copilots, conversational interfaces, or intelligent workflows.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) and user-centered design principles.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Research, and business teams.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and design-to-code workflows.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation tools.
  • Portfolio demonstrating component-level design thinking, not just final screens, with handoff artifacts or QA comparison examples preferred.
  • Hands-on experience building or contributing to a design system in Figma or equivalent, including component architecture, variables and tokens, and boolean properties.
  • Familiarity with token management tools such as Style Dictionary or Tokens Studio is a plus.
  • Understanding of how design tokens translate to code, including CSS custom properties and JSON exports.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including advanced prototyping, component logic, and dev mode handoff.
  • Ability to review front-end implementations and flag design drift.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product team is nice to have.
  • Exposure to motion design or micro-interaction principles is nice to have.

  • Own the developer handoff process by preparing clean, well-annotated Figma files with clear specs, redlines, and component documentation.
  • Partner with QA during implementation reviews to catch design drift early, validate interaction states, and ensure the shipped product matches the intended design.
  • Contribute to and evolve our component library, establishing clear naming conventions, states, and documentation for handoff.
  • Leverage AI-powered design tools and workflows to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and iteration cycles.
  • Participate in design critiques, giving and receiving structured feedback to continuously raise the bar on craft and usability.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail across spacing, typography, color, interaction states, and accessibility standards.
