Job description

Avantra is the leading SAP automation platform for IT operations, trusted by enterprises around the globe. We’re on an exciting journey to migrate from a legacy interface to a completely new user experience that meets modern design and usability standards.

We're looking for a mid-level UX Designer & Researcher to join our small, agile design team. In this role, you'll work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to drive product discovery and improve usability through informed, user-centric design.

This is a highly autonomous and varied role best suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about continuous learning and iteration. You’ll play a pivotal role in establishing our Continuous Discovery practices and shaping how we collect, manage, and apply customer insights across the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong, ongoing relationships with customers to gather feedback and understand their workflows and challenges.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to identify user needs, behaviours, and pain points.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights that inform UX strategy and product decisions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other designers to shape the user experience of the new Avantra interface.
  • Lead usability testing of legacy and new designs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Help define and implement a Continuous Discovery process, including tools, methods, and routines for insight management.
  • Design wireframes, user flows, and low-fidelity prototypes as needed to explore and communicate ideas.
  • Document and share research insights in a structured, accessible manner for cross-functional use.
  • Advocate for user-centric design principles and foster empathy for end users across the organisation.
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 3–5 years of experience in UX design and/or user research, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute end-to-end user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing, etc.).
  • Experience working on complex platforms or legacy software transformation projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing your own workload, with a high degree of autonomy and initiative.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Miro, Dovetail (or similar), and analytics platforms.
  • A pragmatic and flexible mindset—able to balance long-term vision with immediate needs.
Desirable:
  • Background or exposure to IT operations, DevOps, or SAP ecosystems.
  • Experience setting up or contributing to a Continuous Discovery or research repository system.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with cross-functional teams or clients
