Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced UX Designer to join our team for a significant public sector project at IBM. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user-centered design and specifically, experience working within the Government Digital Service (GDS) framework. This role will involve designing intuitive, user-friendly digital solutions that enhance public service delivery and digitally transform public sector operations.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features following the GDS design principles.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for web and mobile applications.
  • Develop and maintain design systems and style guides.
  • Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices.
  • Advocate for users and ensure their needs are met in all design decisions.
  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the entire design process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
  • Professional experience in UX design.
  • Proven experience with Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles and standards.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design (UCD) methodologies and processes.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of UX design projects, particularly those within the public sector.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions effectively.
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Desirable: Certification in UCD (e.g., International Professional Certification in User Experience), experience with Agile/Scrum, familiarity with IBM design tools, knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, and content strategy.
  • Experience in conducting user interviews, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations.
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS for creating interactive prototypes.
  • Experience with design tokens and component libraries.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations, especially for government projects.
  • Experience with designing for voice interfaces or emerging technologies.
