Job description

We're looking for a talented and creative UX Designer to join our Marketing team at Oak Furnitureland. This is a hybrid role, with two days a week in our Swindon head office (Tuesday and Thursday) and three days working from home
In this pivotal role you’ll be in shaping the digital experience for our customers, ensuring our e-commerce platform is intuitive, engaging, and highly effective at driving revenue. This role is crucial in translating business objectives and user needs into seamless and impactful user journeys that enhance customer satisfaction and conversion rates.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Product Owner and Optimisation Specialist to understand user behaviour, identify pain points, and design solutions that deliver measurable improvements. A key part of the role will be conducting thorough research, crafting compelling UI designs, and leveraging UX analytics to iterate and refine the user experience. You will work in harmony with our internal creative design team, who serve as our brand guardians, to ensure a cohesive and consistent brand message and experience across all customer touchpoints. You’ll also work closely with development teams to ensure their designs are clearly understood and implemented accurately, thereby minimising the need for remedial iterations.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct user research, including usability testing, surveys, interviews, and competitor analysis, to gather insights into user needs, behaviours, and motivations.
Translate research findings and business requirements into effective user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs for our e-commerce platform.
Collaborate with the Product Owner to define user stories, prioritise features, and ensure UX designs align with product roadmap objectives.
Work alongside the Optimisation Specialist to identify areas for A/B testing and provide design variations that support conversion rate optimisation efforts.
Utilise UX analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4, Contentsquare, and Microsoft Clarity to monitor user behaviour, identify usability issues, and inform design decisions.
Iterate on designs based on user feedback, analytics data, and stakeholder input, advocating for user-centred design principles throughout the development lifecycle.
Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain visual and functional consistency with the overall Oak Furnitureland brand identity, working closely with the internal creative design team.
Maintain and evolve design systems and component libraries within Figma to ensure design consistency and efficiency.
Present and articulate design rationale and solutions to stakeholders, clearly communicating the value and impact of proposed UX improvements.
Work closely with development teams to ensure a clear understanding of design specifications and requirements, facilitating accurate implementation and reducing the need for remedial iterations.

Skills and Experience:

Proven experience as a UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital design projects, preferably within an e-commerce environment.
Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, particularly Figma/Adobe Creative Cloud including experience working with design frameworks and component libraries.
Demonstrable experience with user research methodologies and the ability to translate insights into actionable design solutions.
Strong understanding and practical experience with UX analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4, Contentsquare, and Microsoft Clarity for data-driven design decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Solid understanding of user-centred design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
Ability to articulate and present design concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in designing for responsive web and mobile interfaces.
