Job description

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Plymouth

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 D.O.E

Hours: Full-time, 67.5 hours per fortnight (on an alternating pattern of 37.5 hours per week and 30 hours the next week)

CMO SUPERSTORES Ltd is an online supplier of building materials, sold across multiple specialist e-commerce stores. We are seeking a self-motivated, organised, experienced, and high-performing UX Designer to join our team.

As a key player in our UX team, the UX Designer will enhance the customer experience by designing visually engaging and intuitive interfaces that promote brand loyalty and seamless user journeys. Working closely with our Technical and Brand teams, this role focuses on understanding customer pain points and optimizing design solutions to surprise, delight, and convert our target market within CMO SUPERSTORES digital spaces.

Duties include

  • UX Design: Create visually compelling and user-friendly interfaces for CMO SUPERSTORES eCommerce platforms, ensuring an enjoyable experience across all user touchpoints.
  • User-Centred Design: Conduct user research and feedback sessions to refine and prioritize designs based on customer insights.
  • Responsive Design: Develop adaptive designs that provide a consistent experience across devices and screen sizes.
  • Prototyping: Build and test interactive prototypes, iterating based on usability testing and feedback.
  • Brand Consistency: Maintain cohesive brand presentation across all design components in line with company guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the UX and customer experience teams, as well as other internal stakeholders, to translate business requirements into engaging, user-focused design solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Keep current with industry trends, tools, and technologies, integrating best practices and innovative ideas into designs.
  • Team Management: If applicable, you will be asked to help manage the UI Designers, their workload and HR responsibilities.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Proficiency in UI design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma).
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles, UX/UI best practices, and usability standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a strong sense of integrity and dependability.
  • Analytical skills to interpret user data and feedback effectively.
  • A degree in UI Design or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills And Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a UI role, ideally within eCommerce or a digital agency.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles as they relate to UI/UX design.
  • Familiarity with design challenges across multiple brands or propositions.
  • Experience in high-growth environments, preferably in construction products, home improvement, or DIY.
