Role: UX Designer

Duration: 6 Months (extension options)

Location: Plymouth (Remote 1 day a month on-site)

Rate: £500 per day (umbrella)

Job Purpose:

As a UX Designer, you'll be responsible for creating intuitive, engaging, and impactful user experiences that align with business objectives and user needs. Collaborating closely with product owners, managers, developers, and other stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment, you will transform complex business requirements into user-friendly designs, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual assets. Your creativity will shine as you design products that are easy to use, intuitive, and enjoyable for end users.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Design intuitive user interfaces and interactions for web and mobile applications that meet user needs and business goals.
2. Conduct user research, including personas, journey mapping, and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
3. Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to illustrate design ideas and user flows.
4. Rapidly iterate designs based on user feedback, stakeholder input, and testing results.
5. Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team to understand business goals and technical constraints.
6. Advocate for the end user during product planning and design discussions, prioritising the user experience.
7. Conduct usability testing, A/B testing, and analyse quantitative/qualitative data to validate design assumptions.
8. Implement feedback from testing and stakeholder reviews to optimise user interfaces.
9. Contribute to and maintain design systems and guidelines for consistency across all digital products.
10. Ensure designs align with company branding and accessibility standards.
11. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups and retrospectives.
12. Collaborate with the product owner to groom the backlog and prioritise UX tasks based on user and business needs.

Knowledge, Experience, and Technical Know-How:

1. Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.
2. Understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript principles for effective communication with developers.
3. Familiarity with user research and usability testing tools like UserTesting, Hotjar, or Google Analytics.
4. Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design processes, UX/UI deliverables, and web/mobile application designs.
5. Expertise in visual design, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
7. Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
8. Strong communication and presentation skills to convey design concepts to stakeholders and team members.
9. Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
10. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
