Job description

About You

  • Do you have a passion for building amazing user experiences?
  • Does empathizing with users, understanding their pains, and identifying opportunities come as second nature to you?
  • Are you passionate about continuously developing you and your teams’ skills?

If so, this could be the role for you…

The Role

As a UX Designer at Heywood, you will help drive forward our software products ensuring users are at the centre of the solutions we design and build. You will work within our Product team, collaborating with other UX Designers, Researchers, and our Scrum teams to test hypotheses and learn fast.

Working with our Product Owners, you will define the problems that need to be solved and solutions with end users and/or customers. You will understand different research, prototyping, and testing methods and know when and how to apply them.

As a UX Designer, your role is to advocate the value of user experience to all levels of the business, being able to gain buy-in from internal and external stakeholders as well as your peers. You will need to be willing to get ‘stuck-in’ and help other teams with tasks such as understanding customer needs and providing guidance on UX best practices.

You will be…

  • Experienced in working in UI/UX design for cross-platform applications
  • Comfortable working both solo and with development teams and within a design team
  • Proficient with Figma or other wire-framing tools
  • Comfortable with storytelling and justifying your work to stakeholders and customers
  • Familiar with design thinking / user-centered design projects and usability testing
  • An understanding of accessibility and how to design for all users
  • Experienced in using data tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar or something similar and how to use data to inform design decisions.

Desirable but not essential…

  • Understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Comfortable conducting research sessions with customers and end users.

Please share a portfolio of previous work as part of your application.
