Job summary

Harvey Nash is seeking an experienced UX Designer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme in Leeds on an initial 6-month contract.

The role is hybrid with 3 days per week onsite in Leeds and remote days; Inside IR35 with a negotiable day rate depending on experience. You will design accessible, user-centred services and collaborate with researchers, product managers and developers to translate user needs into effective service experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer or similar UCD role.
• Experience designing complex digital products and services.
• Previous government or public sector experience is highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of user-centred design (UCD) principles and methodologies.
• Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction designs.
• Experience using research and usability testing to iterate and improve designs.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of GOV.UK design patterns would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

We're looking for an experienced UX Designer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme on an initial 6-month contract.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team, designing accessible, intuitive and user-centred digital services. Working closely with User Researchers, Product Managers, Content Designers, Business Analysts and technical teams, you'll use research and evidence to understand user needs and translate them into effective service experiences.

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong experience working as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer or similar UCD role

• Experience designing complex digital products and services

• Previous government or public sector experience would be highly advantageous

• Strong understanding of user-centred design (UCD) principles and methodologies

• Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and interaction designs

This is a hybrid role based in Leeds, with 3 days per week onsite mandatory and the remaining days working remotely. Candidates must therefore be able to regularly commute to Leeds.

The position is an initial 6-month contract, Inside IR35, with the day rate negotiable depending on experience.
