Overview

Job title - Utility Services Supervisor
Location - Ealing, London W5
Contract - 3-6 month Fixed-Term
Hours - Full time 35 hours per week

Role Summary

We\'re looking for a proactive and experienced Supervisor to lead a small team of Utility Officers responsible for managing gas, electricity, and water accounts across a large housing portfolio. This team also supports the processing of council tax billing and ensures all charges and recoveries are handled accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership - Supervise, support and motivate Utility Officers to meet service delivery targets. Organise daily workloads, allocate tasks, and monitor progress. Conduct regular one-to-ones, briefings and performance reviews.
  • Operational Oversight - Oversee utility billing, ensuring invoices are accurate and correctly allocated to budgets. Manage reconciliations, refunds, and service charge recoveries. Ensure compliance with housing regulations and internal policies. Collaborate with third-party providers and internal finance/operations teams.
  • Resident & Stakeholder Engagement - Support operational teams in resolving resident queries and complaints related to utility and service charge costs. Promote professional communication with colleagues across Finance, Operations and external partners.
  • Reporting & Development - Maintain accurate records of activity, incidents and performance. Report to senior management on outcomes, trends, and improvement opportunities. Identify training needs and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Requirements
  • Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role, ideally within housing, utilities, or property management.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage remote team members.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • IT literate, with experience using finance or housing/asset management systems. Confident liaising with third-party suppliers and internal departments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
