Job description

Utilities Operator opportunity based at a large manufacturing site near Maidstone, Kent. 12 hour shifts. Up to 18 month contract offering great salary and benefits.

This site is part of a global recycling / packaging manufacturinggroup.

The Utilities Operator will oversee and monitor all utilities equipment and/or systems, ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and policy. It will be expected of the person to monitor closely the operation, reporting anomalies and conditions to site supervisors and department senior team members.

Under the supervision of senior utilities personnel, the person shall carry out maintenance activities and support the operations as needed.

Fixed-term utilities operators shall actively participate in the operation of the water treatment plant for the CHP and, if needed, perform water testing activities to monitor water quality parameters.

  • Follow and comply with company Health & Safety procedures, auditing practices, and maintain records.
  • Report in the log and fill all operating parameters for the assets in the CHP log and SAP.
  • Make sure all anomalies are reported and registered accordingly to facilitate the planning process for the maintenance activities.
  • Ensure a steady supply of water to the CHP demineralisation storage tanks.
  • Ensure that good quality water is supplied to the boilers within parameters.
  • Always ensure effective housekeeping practice in the CHP plant.
  • Write SOP and risk assessments for the water treatment plant with the supervision of the senior plant operator.
  • Carry out routine sampling to support plant performance.
  • Flexible to work on an on-call rota to support business needs.
  • Ensure all daily checks for the plant are completed and any defect is escalated.
  • To perform any reasonable task as required.
