Job Description: Remote and Uncrewed Vessel Technical Supervisor

Fugro has developed a new service line utilizing remote and autonomous technology aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable work practices. Our Uncrewed Service Vessel (USV) Technical Supervisors work onsite, ensuring the technical uptime of vessels, ROVs, and survey equipment.

Our global reach and expertise enable us to provide invaluable geo-data insights, helping clients design, build, and operate assets more safely, sustainably, and efficiently.

The Role

We are seeking senior engineers and technicians with operational management experience to oversee the technical uptime of USVs and electric ROVs (eROVs) across Europe and Africa.

You will lead a small site-based team responsible for project mobilizations, equipment installation, calibration, maintenance, and fault diagnosis. This role involves hands-on work with remote equipment, supporting the transition from traditional to remote/uncrewed survey methods.

You will work in a stable rotation at project sites, maintaining and servicing vessels, onboard eROV systems, launch and recovery gear, and vessel-mounted sensors, ensuring operational readiness for investigations and inspections.

You will liaise directly with clients and internal teams, providing daily reports on QHSE and operational performance.

About the USV Technology

Fugro’s USVs are designed for survey and ROV inspections. The vessel, eROV, and survey systems are integrated, offering varied work opportunities. The vessels are operated from our Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Aberdeen. The Technical Supervisor role is crucial in connecting operational activities with remote operators, pilots, and surveyors.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in senior technical management roles such as ROV Superintendent, Geophysical Technical Coordinator, Chief Engineer, or Party Chief.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, survey equipment, ROVs, and marine engineering.
• Experience with project mobilizations, maintenance systems, fault logging, and QHSE protocols.
• Willingness to work shifts up to 4 weeks at various sites across Europe and Africa.
