User Researcher

We are looking for a User Researcher to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

What skills, knowledge, and experience will you need?

  • Experience of user research or appropriate experience in other research fields.
  • Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research methods, selecting the most suitable depending on the requirements.
  • Significant experience planning and conducting research considering user diversity, access needs, and ethical considerations.
  • Proven track record of generating insights that influence project decisions.
  • Ability to communicate research insights effectively to project teams and stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations.

Your role

As a User Researcher, you will plan, design, and execute research programs to understand DWP users' needs.

You’ll identify opportunities for service improvements, present insights to stakeholders, and collaborate with designers, engineers, analysts, and architects to develop research strategies focusing on diverse user needs, including vulnerable claimants and customers.

Location: Join us in Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield—whichever is most convenient.

Hybrid Working: We offer a hybrid model—some days at home, some face-to-face in a hub.

Pay: Up to £45,081.

Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions up to 28.97%, worth up to £13,028 annually.

Holidays: Starting at 26 days, rising to 31 days over time, plus up to 3 extra days off per month on flexi-time and public holidays.
