Type: Permanent

Salary: [£80-120k]

Security Clearance: Must hold active DV clearance

We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading consultancy working with high-profile defence and security clients. They’re looking for an experienced DV-cleared User Researcher to join their growing team — someone who’s passionate about creating user-centred solutions in complex and sensitive environments.

This is a remote-first role, but you’ll be aligned to one of their offices in London, Bristol, or Manchester, and will be expected to travel to client sites when required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan, design and carry out in-depth user research with a range of stakeholders in secure environments
  • Work closely with designers, developers, and delivery teams to ensure solutions meet real user needs
  • Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research using a variety of methods (interviews, usability testing, analytics, etc.)
  • Communicate findings in clear, compelling ways that influence decision-making
  • Ensure research activities comply with ethical, legal and security requirements
  • Help shape research strategies for challenging problem spaces in defence and national security

What we’re looking for:

  • Active DV clearance (this is essential – please do not apply without it)
  • Proven experience as a User Researcher working in government, defence, or secure settings
  • Skilled in a range of research techniques with the ability to adapt to different user groups
  • Confident working with agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in high-security, often ambiguous, environments

Why this role?

  • Work on impactful, meaningful projects in national security and defence
  • Join a supportive and expert team that values research-driven decision-making
  • Enjoy remote flexibility with access to modern offices in key UK cities
  • Continuous professional development and the chance to shape long-term transformation programmes
