Job description

Arthur is delighted to be supporting a top performing Lloyd's Syndicate who are seeking a Reserving Actuary to join their team.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a well-established reserving function that works across Lloyd’s, US, and European entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Quarterly reserving and trust fund valuations for long-tailed (Specialty Risks) through deep dive analysis.
  • Perform reconciliation checks to provide assurance on the valuation outputs.
  • Reporting of results of actuarial valuations and provide analysis to stakeholders and committees.
  • Collaborate with reserving actuaries, claims managers, and underwriters on the calculation of reserve uncertainty/ranges.
  • Engage with Finance, Data Management, and Ceded Reinsurance teams to produce and reconcile the data for the valuation processes.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of reserving documentation and ensure adherence to the review requirements and obtaining the appropriate sign-offs.
  • Assist in projects undertaken by the actuarial team e.g., M&A, business planning analyses, and the delivery of group-wide strategic projects.

Requirements:

  • University degree in STEM subject and progressing towards an actuarial qualification.
  • London Market reserving experience and expertise in ResQ software.
  • Competent user of MS Excel; VBA, SQL, Python, R or Power BI skills desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; accurate and numerate.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
